A dude gave me a massage once and I also went through the entire range of homophobic emotions, and like you, rose above. I just pretended I was a football player and he was the trainer. After all, men rub other men’s muscles all the time. That seemed to help offset the gayness until I realized I was role playing with another man. Of course, I forgot about all of it when he lotioned up his stubbly forearms (yes, he was a body builder and shaved his forearms, and yes, that contributed to the awkwardness of the situation) and pressed them up and down my back with the force of a back-hoe. And it’s not like I could say, “Dude, you need to shave your arms,” because I made a promise to myself a long time ago that I would never say that to another man. Anyway, it was the least relaxing massage… maybe even moment I’ve ever had.
