Make Me an Offer
I blog for free. So far no one has been willing to pay me anything to do it. Except for this one person who wanted to put some text in some of my old posts and then add a hot link and I think that kind of stuff makes Google very very mad at bloggers, so I told them “no” and now I kind of wish I’d agreed to do it because I could use the $50. I have two kids.
However, I am willing to blog for unfree, but I have terms.
On Reviews
I will gladly write a review of your product. It might take a while. In fact, I have a running segment called “Backpacking Dad’s Overdue Reviews“, and it’s likely I would take a while to review your product. I do not accept payment for reviews, but I do require an actual product to review. I will not write a review based on a press release. Products for review may be sent to:

I will no longer be doing Giveaways in conjunction with a product review. Product reviews are unpaid, unbiased opinions about the product; giveaways are something closer to a promotion or endorsement. Mixing the two strikes me as unsavory.
On Giveaways and Promotions
If, however, you are not interested in a product review, but would like to promote your product, event, or self in another way, I am willing and able to work with you. I will run giveaways or promotions for a negotiated fee, depending on the type of promotion you want to do. Perhaps if your product is amazing and awesome and I can’t live without it I will do a giveaway or participate in a promotion in exchange for the product or opportunity itself. Convince me. However, in either case I cannot also provide a review of the product. I can relate press-release copy, or write my own copy, for these products, but it will not take the form of an ubiased review.
On Ads
I might be interested in selling ad space. I don’t know what that means though, so don’t be upset if when you pay me lots of money I walk around with your logo on my forehead instead of on the blog. I don’t know how to put things on the blog. Except for blog posts. Say “blog” again, Shawn. Blog.
