Erin Does Science! The Exploding Water Hypothesis

Posted on 01/22/2013 by Backpacking Dad

Erin left school today very excited about estuaries. She had some questions about them, though. Would fresh water and salt water, when mixed together as in an estuary, taste fresh or salty? Would mixing two types of water cause an explosion?

So, she designed an experiment to find out.

      @Karen,

      Me too. And getting her to do experiments is a great way to stop her from asking me “why??????” all the time.

    Love her hypothesis and falsification vocabulary.

    Please let her know that she shouldn’t be tasting estuary water when out in nature!

      @Bella,

      Ha! This is the kid who thought the water would explode, and did it anyway. There’s no cautioning her.
