Why I Won’t Be Hosting HomeHer ’11.

Posted on 05/26/2011 by Backpacking Dad

Last year a pretty insane thing happened: I cracked a couple of jokes about a fake conference I was attending, called HomeHer10, and bam! Soon, thousands of tweets, dozens of blog posts, at least two videos, and even several impromptu sponsors later, and I was exhausted from laughing for three days straight. I had way too much fun, and it was all because hundreds of other people got the joke, got in on the joke, and kept telling the joke over and over and over again. I love the world.

Sadly, I will not be hosting HomeHer11. I trust someone else will be able to set the spark alight and then watch the flames of hilarity engulf the Internet. Watch for a hashtag, probably #HomeHer11 or just #HomeHer, to start hitting Twitter in early August. It will be a good time.

As for me…

I’ll be Tweeting at #BlogHer11!

I have mixed feelings about my treason.

That's a good reason. :-) See you there!

I'll be there! I really enjoyed HomeHer last year, too!

Why stop there? Why not announce that you've decided not to run for President? The Canada thing would keep you from being eligible to serve, but why should that deprive you of not running?

It's crazy and funny that a joke took off like that! If there will be a HomeHer11, I'm in!
